This Fish Tier List ranks practical targets in Slime Out Fish, not a fake encyclopedia of every sell price. Scale the Deeps has not published a complete official Cash table, so tiers here mean session priority: what to chase for money flow, what to chase for Index/Mutation Index progress, and what to protect as weather-fish Starlight. Hard rule: perfect scaling plus knife readiness beats rarity flex. A Mythic that sits unscrapeable in a full bag while your Kitchen Knife chokes is not S-tier for your account tonight.

Ranking criteria

• Cash reliability after a perfect scrape and duck feed
• Index / Mutation Index completion value
• Weather / Starlight importance when applicable
• Opportunity cost versus simply casting more commons with a ready knife
• Honesty about unknown odds and sell multipliers

S tier — session-defining targets

Meteor weather fish (event catches turned in at Thunder Siam, ~1715 Starlight each) sit in S for progression even though they are not everyday Cash commons. Missing both Meteor fish to chase a random vanity cast is the classic mistake.

Thunder weather-fish swarms (five per Thunder window) are S when you need Starlight volume or Thunder Siam relationship progress. They outrank almost any Sunny common grind for long-term weather-shop power.

Swordfish earns S as an Index dream target when you already have luck gear and event skies—clip citations around 1/400k mean you should not build your rent around it. S for collection prestige; C for reliable Cash planning.

Secret-tagged showcases such as Thunder Tuna and Meteor Blade (Secret / limited talk) are S when they are up and your bag is empty. They are not farm routes you can schedule like Rainy commons.

A tier — strong mid priorities

Mythic-tagged names like Thunder Piranha and Polar Ribbon Fish are A for Index flex and highlight reels. Farm them during luck-heavy skies (Meteor, Thunder, Aurora) with potions from bait and boosts, but keep knife tiers ready via the knives tier list.

Thunder Lionfish and other Thunder-associated named catches are A during Thunder windows when weather fish are already secured or while you path between spawns.

Aurora-mutated / Frost / Flaky variants of whatever you are already catching jump to A for Mutation Index nights. Exact multipliers are unknown—tier them as collection priority, not guaranteed Cash multipliers.

Clownfish (clip citation ~1/64) is A as an achievable Index milestone once Toy/Bamboo rods are online—worth a focused luck potion on a good sky, not a week-long obsession.

B tier — honest workhorses and named mid fish

Mackerel, Catfish, Furnace Catfish, Blue Snapper Catfish, and Octopus land in B as recognizable Index and Cash contributors depending on your rod tier. They keep the loop moving while you wait for Mythic RNG. Furnace Catfish and Blue Snapper Catfish matter more when your Index still shows gaps; otherwise treat them as healthy mid scrapes.

Common fish as a class are B for economy and D for excitement. Early accounts should love them: they teach perfect scrapes and fund Kitchen Knife and early rods. Late accounts still use commons to clear bait charges between event skies.

C tier — low priority unless Index-gated

Duplicate commons after your Index row is filled are C—still Cash-positive with perfect scrapes, but not worth burning Lucky Totems. Chasing Swordfish on Sunny with empty potions while Meteor is two minutes away is also a C-tier decision even if Swordfish itself is an S name.

Any fish you cannot perfect-scrape yet is situationally C until the knife catches up. Upgrade blades before you label the fish “bad.”

Knife readiness gate (non-negotiable)

Before you promote any fish into your personal S list, ask:

1. Can I perfect-scrape the last ten catches? If no, open Perfect Scaling and the knives tier list.
2. Is bait multi-catch about to dump four fish into a dull blade? Fix knife or bait timing via bait and boosts.
3. Is a weather fish in the bag? Thunder Siam first.

Rarity without scrape readiness is cosplay.

Suggested target order by account stage

Day one: Commons + any easy named mids while learning scrapes; ignore Secret odds. Early mid: Clownfish-style Index gaps, Catfish lines, Octopus when skies help; still no Swordfish addiction. Weather-literate mid: Thunder/Aurora/Meteor weather fish as true S; Mythics as A while potions last. Late flex: Swordfish, Thunder Tuna, Meteor Blade attempts on prepared luck windows only.

Mistakes this list is designed to prevent
